Personal note:
After graduating in Maritime Law at the University of Pisa, including eleven months of Erasmus study in Spain at the “Universidad de Cadiz”, where she had the opportunity of a training internship with the local Port Authority to study various issue of Spanish Law on Port, Simona, joined the firm moving from Taranto in 2003 in order to complete her training in all matters related to shipping. She has developed a deep knowledge of matters related to Administration and has attended a number of courses and seminars dedicated to specialised issues, in particular on port legislations, marine safety and investigation on accident. In 2005 she attended a six months’ working experience at the claims office of a local Shipping Agency having the opportunity to study numerous issues related to container transport and liability for cargo damages.In May 2008 Simona had her first experience of a training internship at an international law firm in London – Holman Fenwick Willan. In 2009 she increased her experience at another international law firm in London, Hill Dickinson and at Charles Taylor Consulting, a leading global provider of management and consultancy services to insurers and insureds across a wide spectrum of industries and activities. On 23rd March 2010 Simona Coppola organized, in collaboration with Propeller Club in Genoa a meeting ”P&I – The shipping liability insurer’s role – Problems and market demand”. In April 2010 Simona attended a course in London at Lloyd’s Academy on Time charterparty and voyage charterparty. In May 2011 Simona attended a course in London at Lloyd’s Academy on “International Marine Insurance”. On 10th June 2011 AIGA (Italian Association of Young Lawyer), hold the “Forum on Transport Regulation”. Between the speakers, Simona Coppola spoke about “The carriage of goods by sea” dwelling upon the problems due to the embargo against Libya. On 10th May 2012 Simona Coppola talked about “Maritime investigations and their effects in the civil process” during a seminar organized by the specialized magazine “Diritto e Trasporti” together with Genoa bar. In November 2012 Simona attended a training course “Contract of transport of goods on behalf of a third party” organised by Altalex.
Simona is a member of Propeller Club in Genoa and of the Italian Association of Maritime Law (AIDIM) and she is part of the editorial staff of the review “LexTrasporti” in which she is responsible for the shipping matters.
Since November 2012 Simona is associated to WISTA (Women’s International shipping and trading association).
Simona is one of the founding members of YoungShip Italy. The Association, founded in Rome in July 2013 by a group of young entrepreneurs of shipping, is the Italian branch of YoungShip International born in 2004 in Norway, which aimed to encourage the union of young professionists who work in marine business. YoungShip Italia has been introduced on board of M/y “Dionea” during the Genoa shipping week. On 5th November YoungShip Italy partners’ meeting together with Confitarma and Federagenti young representatives have appointed by acclamation Simona Coppola President of YoungShip Italy. On 7th May 2014 Simona was between the speakers at the Seminar “Il Diritto dei Trasporti in un mondo che cambia” organized by LexTrasporti.
From 14th October up to 14th November 2015 Simona has cooperated as teacher with the Faculty of Engineering in Naples Federico II, in the project of professional training “Lims – experts in management services of the logistic information.” In particular she has been involved in teaching in the course “Study of goods handling and carriage of goods by ships” and in the course “The role of stakeholders”.
Simona Coppola has attended the Adriatic Maritime Law Conference held in Porto Roz – 26th up 28th May 2016 with the sponsorship of AIDIM and of the Croatian and Slovenian Maritime Law Associations.
Simona Coppola has been appointed as member of the Management board for the Mar Ionio Harbour System – Taranto harbour with the Decree n°. 26/2017 dated 6th March 2017.
Since January 2021 she edits the “Lawyer on board” page of Mondo Barca magazine, a monthly magazine dedicated to the sale of boats and a reference newspaper for pleasure boaters and for nautical sector operators.
In June 2021 she achieved the certificate as Delegate – expert in real estate sales.
